We are excited to celebrate outdoors with parents and our youngest friends in Astoria, Queens this summer! With our new Parent/Child classes this season, we aim to hone persistence, grit and resilience--important skills children need to thrive in our ever-changing world!

We will gather to greet in the morning, share a story and then set off on a nature walk at a slow and curious pace. We'll witness the beauty of nature and make sure there is ample time for play and conversation. This is not a drop-off class and children must attend with a caregiver who shares their love of the outdoors.
The morning is a great way to build an early connection to nature in the company of like-minded families. While each class has a consistent structure and pace, we are intentionally casual and encourage children to follow their curiosity and proceed at their own style. Class size is limited to 8 children. Infant siblings welcome at no additional cost.
We follow Covid-19 protocols in our school and all our outdoor sessions.
Location: Astoria Park or Rainey Park
Ages: Ages 2 - 5 welcome
Session Length: One 90-min class per week. You are welcome to sign up multiple classes each week.
June Trial Class Dates: Four Saturdays in June (6/5, 6/12, 6/19 and 6/26)
Summer 2021 Dates: Eight Saturdays from July 10th to August 28th
Cost: $30 for each trial class in June. $280 for the 8-week summer session.
Class Size: Class is limited to 8 children. Infant siblings welcome at no additional cost.
Dress: We will meet rain or shine in all but extreme weather. On wet and muddy days, water resistant pants that can get dirty and rain/mud boots are required. One-piece suits, such as Oakiwear, Tuffo's Muddy Buddy or Frogg Toggs are a must. In case of rain, wear hat and rain jacket (umbrellas are not practical). Still nervous about the elements? Snacks: We invite you to bring healthy snacks and water for your child. We will have a group snack time near the end of our class, though your child is free to eat and drink any time.
Missed Classes: We do not offer refunds for classes you miss, nor do we allow drop-ins. While we strive to be as accommodating as possible, we also believe continuity in participation builds an important sense of community and makes for a higher quality learning experience for our children and families. We also strive to establish stable groups for easy contact tracing.
Weather Cancellations: We follow NYC school and NYC weather advisory. If there is a delayed school opening or closure or extreme weather warning, we will cancel class and not make it up. In the unlikely event we must cancel two or more classes, we will credit the missed class fee towards a future program.
Covid Cancellations: If a citywide lockdown occurs, we will cancel and issue credit towards a future program.
